People often want to know what to expect in a homeopathic consultation. They want to know what will be their experience, and is there anything they should be nervous about or prepare (the answer is ‘no’ to both😊).
Many are surprised when I tell them the first visit is usually 1.5 to 2 hours long and that follow-ups are often 45 to 60 minutes. In a healthcare world that’s increasingly rushed and transactional, that feels very different.

But for me, it’s not just about how much time we spend together, it’s about the quality of attention given to your individual symptoms, needs, and experiences.
My care is relational, not transactional
From the very beginning, our work together is relational. We’re not chasing symptoms or forcing insight. We are working together to understand which homeopathic remedy will best stimulate your inner healing response. We need to know how your healing-force has been damaged, broken, suppressed, or overwhelmed.
In order to do that, we need to allow enough time for your inner experience to come through. That can be through physical symptoms or your emotional being. There is no one-size fits all experience in homeopathy, not even in the consultations.
Often, people come in thinking they need to explain or justify what’s wrong. What they discover instead is that they’re allowed to just be. I encourage my clients to speak freely and to truly explore what is happening in their mind and body.
Through our relationship, I aim to be as invested in your healing journey as you are. A partner walking alongside you as you move toward greater health.

“Tell me more,” is one of my favorite phrases.

A consultation isn’t an interrogation, it’s a conversation. With every client and every appointment, I make an effort to be present and empathetic.
I want to know what it’s like to live your experience – the aches, the pains, what makes you sad, happy, or frustrated, and what truly inspires you.
And yes, please share your goals for healing and a life well lived!
The amazing thing about homeopathy is that we can find a remedy that helps heal what ails you and, at the same time, supports movement toward greater vitality and wholeness. Homeopathy helps you move closer to the life you want to live.
The unprejudiced observer
For me, listening includes more than words. It also encompasses tone, gestures, movement and other subtle ways the body communicates what the mind may not yet see.
This is where I often think of Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy, and his call for the practitioner to be an unprejudiced observer.
Not someone who rushes to label or interpret, but someone willing to meet what’s present without forcing it into a preconceived box. That attitude – open, curious, grounded – is at the heart of how I work today.
That’s what you can expect in a homeopathic consultation!
Healing doesn’t like being pushed.
When I talk about walking with clients on their healing journey, it’s because real healing doesn’t happen overnight. It unfolds in layers.
Physical symptoms, emotional patterns, stress responses, and protective strategies that once were so troubling begin to ease. Over time, you start to feel better and better; day by day, week by week, month by month.
An essential part of how I practice homeopathy is that ongoing consultations allow you to slow down and notice what is happening in your body, and how it’s being experienced in real time.
Sometimes that means sitting with discomfort. And often, it means allowing yourself to fully experience the good feelings, too – that is very much part of our work together. I emphasize allowing both – the good and the hard – to be felt without judgment. That alone can be regulating for the nervous system.
Over time, this creates something many people haven’t experienced in healthcare: a steady therapeutic relationship. I don’t believe in one-off appointments, protocol healing, or box-checking. Our work together is an ongoing process built on trust, continuity, and respect.
You don’t have to reveal everything at once or go deeper than you’re ready for. There’s no pressure to perform healing on a timeline. We let the work unfold at the pace your system can integrate.
The First Remedy is Love
There’s a saying from my personal homeopath and mentor, Je Norbu, that has always stayed with me: “The first remedy is love.”
For me that means presence, care, and attentiveness. It means being seen without judgement or prejudice, just an earnest desire to help you heal.
This is the kind of care I aim to offer: attentive and relationship-centered, grounded in compassion and professional training. If that sounds like the kind of care you’re seeking, then we may be a great fit.
So, now you know what to expect in a homeopathic consultation!
