What We Built at the School Success Expo

The inaugural School Success Expo, hosted by the DMV Education Business Coalition, brought together a small but deeply engaged group of educators, business owners, and family-support professionals for a day centered on connection, collaboration, and student success.

While attendance from the public was lighter than we had hoped, the event still created meaningful opportunities for the attendees and exhibitors to learn more about one another’s work, share resources, and strengthen referral relationships across the DMV.

For those who attended, they got to hear from our speaker panel of experts – including myself! The conversation was lively, thoughtful, and surprisingly fun, with panelists sharing ideas about the many different ways children and families can be supported academically, emotionally, and practically.

I was able to provide practical tips on how parents can help manage and regulate their own nervous systems, which is the foundation for helping your kids manage their own strong emotions and impulses! There was also discussion about how homeopathy can help adults, teens, and kids with improving their emotional well-being. I write more about that in my blog post here.

The discussion was also recorded, giving us the opportunity to continue sharing those insights beyond the event itself.

We’re grateful to everyone who participated, exhibited, spoke, and helped make the day possible. The School Success Expo may have been a modest beginning, but it gave us a foundation to build on—and I’m excited to see how the DMV Education Business Coalition continues to grow, collaborate, and support local families in the months ahead.

One of the clearest takeaways from the day was just how many dedicated professionals and valuable resources are available to support children and teens throughout their educational journey. From academic tutoring and enrichment to wellness, mentoring, and family support, the range of expertise represented at the Expo was impressive. It was encouraging to see so many people committed to helping young people learn, grow, and thrive—and to know that families in the DMV have a growing network of professionals they can turn to for support.
